Project Description
The Parwan Protein Recovery Facility (PRF) is the largest and most modern of its type in Victoria. The development was the delivery of a family’s dream and value add process to their existing abattoir set in amongst their rural grazing pastures of Parwan. The value-add was essentially converting abattoir waste to produce valuable tallow and dry product then on-sold on to other industries such as dog food. The development was delivered under four key contracts, being:
          1. Construction of new services infrastructure to the site including gas mains and regulator station (City Gate), sewer and water mains, recycled water main and new 80ML winter storage for recycled water for irrigation;
          2. Construction of the PRF building, roads and on site services reticulation, 2MW generator, industrial gas supply and meter arrangement, biomass odour treatment beds for the process odorous gases;
          3. Design, supply, installation and commissioning of the PRF processing plant and equipment including electrical control boards and SCADA;
          4. Design, supply, installation and commissioning of the wastewater treatment plant that converts the processed liquid and water from the PRF into Class B recycled water.
Our involvement was as Project Manager across all four contracts and Superintendent of the wastewater treatment plant element. The role involved co-ordination across and between the four separate contracts as well as external authorities such as Greater Western Water, Ausnet, EPA, Moorabool Council and Wadawurrung organization.
